Conditions I Treat

At Compass Counseling Services, I support individuals navigating emotionally complex and physically demanding seasons of life. I take a trauma-informed, whole-person approach to healing—recognizing that our mental, physical, and relational experiences are deeply connected.

As part of this approach, I use evidence-based therapies tailored to your unique needs. One of these is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic or distressing experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming. EMDR can be especially effective for trauma, anxiety, and negative self-beliefs rooted in past experiences.

When appropriate, I may also recommend incorporating other providers into your care team, such as pelvic floor therapists, psychiatric providers for evaluation or medication management, reproductive health specialists, or functional medicine practitioners. I believe in thoughtful, collaborative care and will always advocate for your overall well-being—even beyond the scope of counseling alone.

Below are some of the common concerns I support:

Perinatal & Postpartum Mental Health

I work with women navigating the emotional and physical transitions of pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood. This may include:

  • Postpartum anxiety or depression

  • Birth trauma or medical trauma

  • Mood shifts during pregnancy or after weaning

  • Rage, resentment, or emotional numbness

  • Identity loss or difficulty adjusting to motherhood

  • Grief following miscarriage or infertility

Hormonal & Cycle-Related Mental Health

Hormonal fluctuations can significantly impact emotional well-being. I offer support for:

  • Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)

  • PMS-related mood changes and irritability

  • Emotional shifts related to birth control or hormone therapy

  • Fatigue, anxiety, or rage linked to menstrual cycles

Chronic Stress & Body-Based Conditions

Many clients come to therapy experiencing emotional distress alongside physical symptoms. I often work with individuals navigating:

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

  • Endometriosis or pelvic pain

  • Chronic fatigue or burnout

  • Anxiety related to body symptoms, pain, or gastrointestinal issues

Trauma & PTSD

Trauma can take many forms—sudden or ongoing, physical, emotional, or relational. I provide trauma-informed care for:

  • Childhood emotional neglect

  • Domestic violence or controlling relationships

  • Sexual assault or boundary violations

  • Medical trauma, especially related to birth or surgery

  • Perfectionism and high-functioning anxiety rooted in past experiences

In our work together, I may incorporate EMDR to help reduce the intensity of triggers, shift negative self-beliefs, and process past experiences so they no longer feel as overwhelming.

Men’s Issues

I work with men navigating identity, family responsibilities, and emotional suppression, particularly in the context of:

  • Fatherhood or role shifts in parenting

  • Relationship challenges

  • Career stress or burnout

  • Difficulty expressing emotions or asking for support

Federal & Government Employee Stress

With a background in federal service, I offer a unique understanding of high-responsibility, mission-driven roles. I support clients in managing:

  • Emotional compartmentalization

  • Burnout and work-life imbalance

  • Identity challenges related to duty, service, and silence

  • Anxiety related to performance, pressure, or security clearance.
